It has been reported that WhatsApp has uploaded a new version update with a newly added feature that allows the transfer of chat histories between Android and iOS devices. This is according to WABetaInfo.
How does the “move chats to iOS” feature work?
Soon, WhatsApp users will be able to migrate their chats from iOS to Android 12 smartphones. As of now, though, you can transfer your chat history from Android to iOS as well.
In the screenshot provided by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp asks a user for permission to import the chat history before it begins the process.
Upon granting the permission, the app will instruct the user to keep the app open and their phone unlocked during the process of migrating their chats.
The feature was not further described nor was a release date given.
WhatsApp users can already migrate their chat history from iOS to Samsung devices, and the company has partnered with Google to support migration from iOS to Pixel smartphones.
